## WynnBet Names Williams Head of Interactive Unit
WynnBet, a sports wagering firm, has appointed Ian Williams to lead its interactive branch, Wynn Interactive. Williams will oversee the daily operations of Wynn Interactive globally.
Williams joined WynnBet last autumn as the chief operating officer, bringing a wealth of experience in the field, spanning over two decades. Prior to joining WynnBet, Williams spent five years as the head of online gaming at Churchill Downs Incorporated (CDI), where he played a key role in expanding the company’s interactive business.
Williams has a long and successful career in the gaming industry, having held top-level positions for over 17 years in the United States. He also established Thistle Gaming, a sports data firm, and spent time as an alliance director at William Hill.
This appointment comes at a time of change for Wynn Resorts. CEO Matt Maddox will be stepping down in 2022, with Wynn Interactive CEO and group COO Craig Billings taking over.
The news also follows the cancellation of Wynn Interactive’s merger with Austerlitz Acquisition Corp. The company is shifting its marketing approach, and Maddox recently stated that the investment needed to compete in the US sports wagering market was not sustainable.
WynnBet, a company under the leadership of Kambi, has recently obtained authorization to provide sports wagering services in New York. They have also gained entry into the West Virginia market through a collaboration with Delaware North.
