This upcoming weekend’s Super Bowl LVIII is anticipated to draw in a staggering $23.1 billion in wagers, as per the American Gaming Association (AGA).

Over 67.8 million individuals are projected to place bets, marking a 35% surge from Super Bowl LVII.

Of this number, 42.7 million are expected to wager offline, either at physical sportsbooks or with bookmakers, signifying a 41% increase from the previous year.

Another 36.5 million individuals are anticipated to participate in casual gambling with friends or through pools or squares, representing a 32% increase from the prior year.

An estimated 28.7 million individuals (11% of all bettors) are expected to wager at authorized online sportsbooks.

The AGA highlights that this trend indicates a continued shift by Americans towards the legal market.

The survey also revealed that those planning to bet are becoming increasingly cognizant of responsible gambling practices.

The AGA survey discovered that 75% of those planning to wager stated they are aware of resources dedicated to responsible gambling.

The AGA asserted that these findings suggest a growing awareness among Americans regarding responsible gambling.

In the realm of conventional Super Bowl wagering, a complete absence of individuals reported encountering responsible gambling materials within the preceding twelve months. This signifies a substantial decline from the preceding year, where 71.0% of bettors had observed such information.

Furthermore, a notable 47.0% of American adults disclosed exposure to responsible gambling messages within the past year, marking a decrease from the 40.0% figure recorded in 2023.

“The arrival of the Super Bowl in Las Vegas for the inaugural time, coupled with this year’s record-breaking betting enthusiasm, represents a pivotal milestone for the American gaming sector,” remarked Bill Miller, assuming the role of president and chief executive officer of the American Gaming Association (AGA).

“Our paramount objective remains the pursuit of excellence in this domain, ensuring the provision of consumer safeguards that only regulated marketplaces can deliver, and diligently investing in responsible gaming tools, protective measures, and educational initiatives.”

Regarding the favored teams among bettors, a significant 47.0% indicated their intention to place wagers on the Chiefs, while 44.0% expressed their support for the 49ers.
