Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment and FanDuel are set to introduce retail sports wagering at their casino in Connecticut on Friday, September 30th. This launch coincides with the debut of sports betting at the rival tribal property, Foxwoods, in partnership with DraftKings.
The Mohegan Sun’s Bow & Arrow Sports Bar will host a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9:30 AM Eastern Time.
The sports bar will boast what Mohegan describes as “one of the largest TV displays in the Northeast,” four live betting windows, and 50 self-service kiosks. Online gambling and wagering products will follow, with Mohegan Sun stating on its website that each will launch “this autumn.”
The sports betting product will be powered by Flutter Entertainment’s FanDuel, a deal finalized in July. The agreement encompasses retail and online sports wagering, as well as online casino products under the Mohegan Sun brand.
This follows Mohegan Sun’s modification of its previous agreement with Kambi, which saw the tribe-owned operator agree to pay the sports betting technology provider a portion of the revenue outlined in its initial agreement.
Governor Ned Lamont of Connecticut has set the launch of sports betting and online gambling as a top priority, advocating for new arrangements between the state and the Mohegan and Mashantucket Pequot Native American tribes. The state legislature endorsed each agreement in May.
