A South African sports wagering firm, Hollywoodbets, has secured the naming rights to Kingsmead Cricket Stadium, the home ground of the South African Dolphins cricket squad and the Durban Heat.
The stadium will be recognized as Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium for the next five years, concluding at the end of the 2023-24 season.
The stadium has undergone recent renovations and will host matches for the English national cricket team.
Hollywoodbets has a strong association with the Dolphins, having been their primary sponsor and rebranding them as the Hollywoodbets Dolphins. The squad participates in South Africa’s top cricket tournaments, including the Sunfoil Series, the One Day Momentum Cup, and the Ram Slam T20 Challenge.
“Our initial involvement in cricket commenced in the 2015/16 season when we became a joint sponsor of the Sunfoil Dolphins, subsequently becoming the title sponsor the following year,” stated Hollywoodbets’ head of media and communications, Devon Heffer.
The Durban Heat, another resident of the field, participates in the South African T20 Challenge.
“It’s undeniable that this field is among the most famous in international cricket,” Hefner stated. “We’ve also invested considerable effort in reviving and spotlighting the legacy of Kingsmead,
“We aim to gauge the reception of cricket’s return to Kingsmead. But most importantly, we desire the supporters to return to Kingsmead. Our objective is to transform Kingsmead into the premier location for every cricket contest.”
Heinrich Strydom, Chief Executive Officer of KwaZulu-Natal Cricket, added: “As a company deeply rooted in the city, it’s been exceptional to collaborate closely from a team sponsorship and ground sponsorship viewpoint.
“We are incredibly thrilled about this proclamation and its implications for the future of cricket in KwaZulu-Natal.”
