The Argentine province of Corrientes has issued guidelines for internet gambling within its borders.

These rules were published in the official Corrientes Provincial Gazette last week and will permit online casinos and bingo, along with various types of wagering.

Besides sports betting, residents of the province will be able to place bets on non-athletic events (excluding politics), such as virtual sports and horse racing.

All forms of online gambling will be overseen by the Corrientes Institute of Lottery and Casinos (ILCC), which will also be responsible for granting licenses to operators and enforcing the rules.

Marketing materials must not be aimed at young people or be “aggressive, misleading, or unfair,” nor should they create “confusion about the nature of the game.”

Gamblers must be able to set limits on their deposits and exclude themselves from gambling, and should receive notifications if they are logged in for more than three hours, with alerts every hour after that.

Minor infractions, such as failing to display license information, will lead to warnings.

Serious breaches, such as allowing self-excluded players to gamble, will result in financial penalties.

The northern Argentine province of Corrientes is preparing to regulate online gambling. The provincial government has declared that severe breaches of regulations, such as providing unauthorized games or licensees participating in games, might result in license termination.

The licensing fees will be established at a later time by the ILCC.

Corrientes, with a population of approximately 1 million, including the city of Corrientes, joins other Argentine provinces in overseeing online gambling. The province of Buenos Aires has already issued online operating licenses to seven gambling operators.

Meanwhile, the country’s capital, Buenos Aires (legally distinct from the province), authorized the launch of Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) and local gaming and entertainment operator Grupo Slots earlier this week.

Argentine provinces are currently regulating online gambling individually.
